If I could only ever visit one place in Australia again it would be Perth. The underdog to Australia’s most popular cities, Perth is hands down the best place I have ever been to and in my opinion, not as greatly known as it should be. The few people I had met on my travels that actually went there all said the same thing – Perth has the most beautiful beaches. I could write for days about how epic my time in Western Australia was but I’ve decided to break down my road trip and the places I visited to make things a little easier. I first have to give a shout out to Teagan for being an absolutely selfless babe and driving our butts all around, Travis for hosting us for a night on his farm, and Kelly for putting up with me and letting me stay with her during my time there. Fremantle – An insanely unique town as it has kept almost of all its original buildings in its downtown area. It was almost like walking in a time capsule. It is home to the beach bums, surf lovers, and the low-key life style. A place I could spend the rest of my days living. Wickepin – Farm country – Absolutely nothing around but more farms. We stayed at Travis’s farm where all we did was basically fish out giant pawns in from the ponds and practiced our aim with a mini shotgun. Kelly and I also attempted to chase sheep but those little buggers are way to smart to let us two around them. Bunker Bay – The place where I will say that I almost sort of came across a snake and am thankful that I didn’t actually really come across a snake. Also to note, there is nothing but beautiful beaches here. The kind where I was pretty sure desktop photos come from. Yallingup – My first experience with a surfing competition. It was exciting for about 5 minutes and then I realized you really need to have a passion for it if you’re going to sit in the sun all day and watch. Injidup – Can’t pronounce this word to save my life but a very exciting place to be if you know where it is and what has to offer. Ended up climbing through enough rocks barefoot for me to say I never want to climb through rocks barefoot again. I crossed another thing on my bucket list by jumping off some cliffs into the ocean. I was a sissy about it and only jumped from the lowest point you could jump. But HEY- at least I did it! Margaret River – Some more beautiful beaches and coastal view. Rottnest Island – Probably the most expensive place to get to EVER… you take a 30 minute ferry but have to pay $60+ AUS for a two way ticket. It is also important to note about Rottnest Island that this is where I fell fully clothed in the water and almost got attacked by an Octopus. I also watched this said octopus attack a middle-aged man who had originally thought it was “a starfish.” How he thought that is beyond me? There is so many more epic stories from this trip that it really is impossible to say it all in a few blog posts. I really hope you enjoyed the photos from my backpacking adventure and I do hope they inspire you to someday make your own adventures in this wonderful world we are all so blessed to live in.
